BURSA - Prof. Dr. Orhan Kural quit his position as the honorary representative of the Guinness World Book of Records in Turkey.
In an interview with the A.A, Kural said, ''I had to quit my duty which I carried out for three years. From now on, I will only advise those who want their names included in the Guinness World Book of Records.''
''During my tenure, 10 people from Turkey were included in the book. However, I could not satisfy anyone and received criticisms. Also, there was not any other honorary representative in the world. Therefore, I decided to quit my position,'' he said.
Kural, who also acts as deputy chairman of the Istanbul University, Faculty of Mining Engineering and as honorary consul general of Benin, added, ''besides my duties, I attended 3 thousand conference throughout Turkey. I visited 200 countries, and wrote 22 books. However, I was known with my position as the honorary representative of the Guinness. My personal achievements have been ignored so far.''
