DUBAI - State Minister Ali Babacan said on Wednesday that it was out of question for Turkey to take backward step on reforms which were implemented in Turkey.
Babacan delivered a speech in the meeting of the IMF's Board of Governors in Dubai.
Stating that Turkey was determined to implement the economic program and provide economic stability, Babacan said that the government recorded important progresses in economy.
Babacan said that economic growth speeded up, inflation rate was decreasing and interest rates dropped and stated that Turkey started to move forward on a path supported by economic, political and social reforms.
Stating that they aimed to have a productive and stable economy based on market mechanism, he said that Turkey was going through a dynamic reform process on the path of membership to the EU.
Babacan noted that the parliament passed seven adjustment packages and stated that they completed all necessary arrangements on adjustment to political criteria of the Union with the last package.
He added that Turkey could start full membership negotiations in 2005 by putting the reforms into practice.
