LEFKOSA - President Rauf Denktas of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), said on Tuesday that those, including European Union (EU), who want to monitor elections should officially inform them about this request.
Denktas said they were not afraid of those who want to monitor elections, stating that, ''however that they should come upon invitation of state.''
Denktas said, ''you will come and inspect the elections. You will be observers. When the elections are won by majority of people who say, 'my state, Turkey's guarantee, we don't want Greek Cypriots,' will you say to Greek Cypriots that, 'here is the will of people. Give up saying I am the government of whole Cyprus. Accept Turkish Cypriots equal to you, and solve the question?''
''Or else will we again be treated as a community and them as a government?'' Denktas added.
Denktas said, ''I see a nation protecting its state and its motherland when I look around. The election will take place between those people and those who say 'we don't have a state' and who say 'I don't care that a hundred thousand people of us can be migrants'.''
