ANKARA - Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Monday that IMF Managing Director and he reached consensus that they should complete the sixth review rapidly.
Erdogan returned from Dubai where he attended annual meetings of International Monetary Fund (IMF)-World Bank to Turkey.
Erdogan told reporters at the airport that his meetings in Dubai were very intensive and stated that results could be reached soon.
Erdogan noted that he informed officials in Dubai about current arrangements regarding encouragement of investments and suitable conditions in Turkey.
Stating that State Ministers Ali Babacan and Kursad Tuzmen and Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan and other delegation members held meetings with representatives of international organizations in world economy administration, Erdogan said that he held bilateral meetings with IMF Managing Director, OECD Secretary General and representatives of some international finance organizations. Erdogan said that it was an undeniable truth that Turkey's views and approaches had significant influence on world economy. He noted that they had an important opportunity to give first hand information about it.
Erdogan noted that he also held bilateral meetings with authorities of the United Arab Emirates and stated that the number of Turkish investors increased from 25 to 85 in the United Arab Emirates. He added that this figure would increase more.
Erdogan said that former U.S. President Bill Clinton visited him and stated that Clinton and he exchanged views on the Middle East, Iraq and Turkish-U.S. relations. He said Clinton told him that Turkey should have serious functions on peace in the Middle East.
Stating that he also met with IMF Managing Director, Erdogan said, ''IMF and we reached agreement that we should complete the sixth review rapidly. They also present Turkey positively in all meetings. We also told them that Turkey will implement economic program with determination.''
