ANKARA - People's Democracy Party (DEHAP) leader Tuncer Bakirhan was detained on Monday within the scope of the investigation launched by the Ankara State Security Court (DGM) into a ''Kurdish festival'' in Germany.
DEHAP leader Bakirhan was called to Ankara Police Department to testify within the scope of the investigation.
Before he went to the Police Department, Bakirhan told reporters that he was called to the police department for a festival he attended in Germany and he would give testimony there.
Bakirhan condemned detention of Free Party leader Ahmet Turan Demir within the scope of the same investigation and said, ''we are behind the statements we made in Turkey and abroad.''
Condemning acceptance of Kurdish festival in Germany as illegal, Bakirhan said he hoped that similar festivals would also be held in Turkey in coming days.
Bakirhan said that ''they did not go there to make propaganda of KADEK.''
This investigation should not affect DEHAP closure case negatively, Bakirhan added.
Bakirhan later went to Ankara Police Department to testify.
He was taken under custody and sent to Forensic Medicine Institute for health control.
Bakirhan will later be transferred to court house.
