NEW YORK - Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul arrived in New York on Sunday to participate in U.N. General Assembly meetings.
Foreign Minister Gul is expected to meet with U.S. State Secretary Colin Powell, U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan, and many of his counterparts including foreign ministers of EU member countries, Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and neighboring countries.
Gul is expected to address U.N. General Assembly on September 26, and will deliver speeches in Eurasia summit and Foreign Policy Association.
Gul is also expected to participate in meetings arranged by Turkish-American Business Forum, American-Turkish Association, and Turkish-American Associations Federation and is expected to listen to the problems of Turkish citizens living in the United States.
Gul will receive officials of Jewish institutions and participate in a meeting entitled ''U.N. and new threats''.
Foreign Minister Gul will also participate in D-8 meeting comprising of foreign ministers of some Islamic countries.
