DUBAI - State Minister Ali Babacan said on Sunday that they might discuss with U.S. Treasury Department the timetable of U.S. loan on Sunday or on Monday.
Babacan, currently in Dubai for International Monetary Fund (IMF)-World Bank annual meetings, replied to questions of reporters.
Replying to a question about U.S. loan, Babacan said period of suspension regarding the loan in the U.S. Congress expired, and that there was no delay, and that the process operated.
Babacan said the loan was not related with dispatch of soldiers to Iraq as it had been alleged, and stated that U.S. Treasury Department made a statement that the loan did not have any connection with dispatch of soldiers.
Babacan said he met with Brazilian economy minister on Saturday, and that they decided to have reciprocal meetings to exchange views.
Babacan said they would hold a seminar in October to examine situation of countries who succeeded in fight against unregistered economy.
Stating that he also met with high ranking officials of the World Bank, Babacan said they would speed up studies with the World Bank starting as of mid-October, after 6th review, to complete country assistance strategy (CAS) studies soon.
Recalling that he met with Pedro Solbes, European Union (EU) Commissioner for monetary and economic affairs, Babacan said they discussed the progress recorded in EU adjustment package, and that they decided to work more to adjust with the EU as of 2004.
Babacan said Turkey's program was found appropriate.
Stressing that he met with foreign investors during the talks on Saturday, Babacan said interest of foreign banks in Turkey increased.
When asked how capital of Gulf countries could be attracted to Turkey, Babacan said inflow of capital would increase as long as confidence in Turkey increased.
