FARNBOROUGH - Airbus announced Friday that it had secured a firm order from German charter airline Blue Wings for 20 single-aisle A320 airliners worth 1.3 billion dollars (1.03 billion euros).
Blue Wings would use the jets on new routes from Germany to destinations in Turkey and former Soviet Union countries, Airbus said on the fifth day of the Farnborough International Airshow in southern England.
The European aircraft maker announced earlier that Singapore Airlines had signed a letter of intent to buy 20 A350s and nine A380 super-jumbos, with options on another 20 A350s and six A380s.
Friday's deals were a major boost to Airbus, which recently announced delays to its flagship A380 and has been forced to revamp its mid-sized A350 plane.
On Monday, Airbus had unveiled a wider version of its long-haul A350, dubbed the XWB, with higher seating capacity and improved fuel efficiency.
Airbus is owned by European aerospace group EADS and BAE Systems of Britain.
