NEW YORK - Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul will come to New York to participate in General Assembly of the United Nations (U.N.) which will start on September 23.
Gul will have a busy schedule in New York. Gul will meet with 45 foreign ministers during his 7-day visit to New York.
Gul will deliver seven speeches, meet with U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan and interview with five important broadcasting organs.
U.S. State Secretary Colin Powell, British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw, French Foreign Minister Dominique de Villepin are among the foreign ministers who Gul meet with.
Gul, who will meet with U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan, is also scheduled to meet with Armenian Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanyan. Gul will also hold talks with foreign ministers of Iran, Israel, Greece, Jordan and foreign ministers of European Union (EU) member countries.
Gul is expected to meet Ahmad Chalabi, the current President of the Iraqi Interim Governing Council, and foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari.
Foreign Minister Gul will meet with Turkish citizens who live in New York and environs, and Tahsin Ertugruloglu, the Foreign Minister of Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).
Gul will be in attendance during the meeting of EU Troika and Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania.
Gul and his Greek counterpart George Papandreou will hand over the documents which show that two countries have approved Ottawa Convention on land mines to Canadian Foreign Minister. The convention is on the Prohibition of the use, stockpiling, production and transfer of antipersonnel mines and on their destruction.
Foreign Minister Gul will participate in a high-level meeting pertaining to Afghanistan where recent developments on Afghanistan would be evaluated.
Gul will speak at a meeting entitled ''U.N. and New Threats'' which will be staged by Dutch Foreign Minister Janap de Hoop Scheffer.
FM Gul will attend meeting of foreign ministers of D-8 group, comprised of Islam countries. D-8 group is comprised of Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Nigeria, Pakistan and Turkey.
Gul will deliver a speech at luncheon that will be hosted by American-Turkish Association, and participate in breakfast of Turkish-American Businessmen Forum.
Gul will attend Eurasia summit and convey Turkey's views and recent developments in the region.
Gul will proceed to Brussels on September 28.
