Ankara Anti-war Platform Members Protest Possible Dispatch Of Turkish Soldiers To Iraq

ANKARA - Ankara Anti-War Platform members held a demonstration in Sakarya Street on Friday to protest a possible dispatch of Turkish soldiers to Iraq.
A group of people who gathered in Yuksel Street claimed that a decision on dispatch of Turkish soldiers to Iraq would not be legitimate. The group marched to Sakarya Street by chanting slogans.
The group later went to the Presidential Palace in Cankaya district and gave a letter to the personnel of the Palace.
Ankara Anti-War Platform spokesman Ender Buyukculha read the letter claiming that the U.S. soldiers' occupation in Iraq did not depend on any legitimate reason and added that they were against a possible dispatch of Turkish soldiers to Iraq.
Another group also held a demonstration in front of the Palace.
The group chanted slogans and carried banners protesting the United States and the Higher Board of Education (YOK).
Police detained about 15 people in the demonstration.
