Ozyurek Says If There Is U.N. Resolution And A Peace Force Is To Be Formed In Iraq, Turkish Soldiers Wearing Blue Beret Can Be Sent There

ANKARA - Republican People's Party (CHP) group deputy chairman Mustafa Ozyurek said on Friday that if there was a U.N. resolution, authority in Iraq was to be handed over to U.N. and a peace force was to be formed there, Turkish soldiers wearing ''blue beret'' could be sent to Iraq.
Ozyurek who held a press conference in the parliament said that an agenda should be determined that foresaw handing over the authority in Iraq to civilian administration and rendering ineffective terrorist organization PKK militants who threatened Turkey.
Stating that they were against dispatch of soldiers without international legitimacy, he recalled that's why they earlier opposed motions on sending soldiers to Iraq.
Ozyurek said that he did not expect a decision on dispatch of soldiers to Iraq to be taken in the meeting of National Security Council (NSC) and stated that it would be wrong to take a decision on the issue in the meeting of NSC. He added that such a decision would not affect the attitude of CHP.
