ANKARA - State Minister Ali Babacan will go to Dubai on Friday evening to attend International Monetary Fund (IMF)-World Bank annual meetings under the title ''guarantor'' and hold a number of bilateral meetings.
A statement of the State Ministry said that Babacan would attend the annual meetings to be held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, between September 23 and 24.
The statement noted that a delegation headed by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan would also hold some meetings in Dubai.
Babacan, who will start bilateral contacts on Saturday, will have tete-a-tete meetings with representatives of many countries and organizations for five days.
State Minister Babacan will speak in meetings and official sessions on Turkey.
Babacan will meet with IMF Managing Director Horst Koehler on Saturday, World Bank President James Wolfensohn on Sunday, and U.S. Secretary of the Treasury John Snow on Monday.
State Minister Babacan will also have meetings with Brazilian Finance Minister Antonio Palocci, World Bank Vice President Shiego Katsu, European Union Commissioner for monetary and economic affairs Pedro Solbes, high-level administrators of some finance organizations, and World Bank Executive Director Kurt Bayer on Saturday.
Babacan will have meetings with Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Secretary General Donald Johnston, Canadian Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister John Manley and International Finance Corporation (IFC) President Peter Woicke on Sunday.
Babacan will have a meeting with Dutch Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Geritt Zalm, Moldovan Finance Minister Zinaida Greciani, Japanese Deputy Finance Minister Zembei Mizguchi, and Finnish Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Antti Kalliomaki on Monday.
State Minister Babacan will hold meetings with IMF First Deputy Managing Director Anne Krueger, IMF European I Department Director Michael Deppler, IMF Fiscal Affairs Department Director Head Teressa Ter-Minassian on Tuesday.
