Iraqi Turkmen Front Leader: No U.N. Resolution Is Necessary For Turkish Soldiers

BAGHDAD - Dr. Faruk Abdullah, the leader of Iraqi Turkmen Front said on Thursday that the most important issue for the Iraqi society was restoring order and security in the country, adding that all kinds of contributions to this end within the scope of agreements would please Iraqis.
Speaking in a news conference in Baghdad after being elected as the new leader of the Iraqi Turkmen Front, Abdullah said that if an agreement was going to be reached between Turkey and the U.S. about sending soldiers, a new U.N. resolution might not be necessary. He stressed that the thing mattered was to restore order in Iraq as soon as possible.
Abdullah said that Turkish soldiers had positive efforts in Bosnia, Afghanistan and Somali to restore order in line with the laws and democracy, adding he thought that Iraqi people would have sympathy for a Muslim army. Yet the region where the soldiers would be deployed and their attitude were also important to restore the order, he added.
