ABANT - Participants of the 11th Abant Platform meeting reacted to the recent Israeli offensive against Lebanon and Palestine, and discussed the future of the Middle East on Saturday, sources said.
According to the sources, delegates from Lebanon, Egypt and Jordan protested the Israeli participants and wanted to leave the meeting.
The platform authorities convinced these delegates not to leave the meeting, saying that these meetings are being held in a pluralist and democratic atmosphere.
On the other hand, professor Muhammed Nureddin of Beirut University left the conference hall when professor Benny Morris of Israel's Ben Gurion University was making a presentation, and reacted to the Israeli offensive against Lebanon.
During the morning session on reflections of globalizations, Israeli professor Morris said that nations cannot unite under a single state after all these agonies, and added that therefore, a two-state solution will be more appropriate.
