ANKARA - Turkish and Russian foreign ministries joint working group meeting was held in Moscow, Russia between September 15 and 16.
Releasing a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that the third regular meeting of joint working group which was formed in accordance with ''cooperation action plan in Eurasia between Turkey and Russia'' which was signed by the foreign ministers of the two countries on November 16, 2001 was held in Moscow between September 15 and 16.
Foreign Ministry Deputy Undersecretary Ali Tuygan from the Turkish side cochaired the joint working group while Russian Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Sergei Razov cochaired the group.
Foreign Ministry said, ''Turkish delegation chairman was received by Russian Foreign Minister Ivanov and had a meeting with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Saltanov who carries out meetings on Near East issues and solution to Iraqi issue. Bilateral relations were reviewed in the meeting of joint group. Current international and regional issues concerning interests of the two countries in Eurasia were also discussed in the meeting.''
The statement said that the two sides reached consensus on the continuation of studies on agreements which constituted the legal basis of relations and consultations on fight against international terrorism carried out between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
It noted that the second meeting of Caucasus subgroup under the joint working group which was formed to determine opportunities for contributing to lasting solution to disagreements and provide stability in South Caucasus region was also held and noted that the two sides exchanged views on those issues.
The statement added that it was planned that the next meeting of joint working group would be held in Ankara in the first half of 2004.
