ANKARA - Interior Minister Abdulkadir Aksu said on Tuesday that they appreciated German government's intention and determination on extradition of Metin Kaplan.
Aksu and German Interior Minister Otto Schily had a meeting in the Interior Ministry.
Aksu said that Schily and he discussed mainly extradition of Kaplan and said that their commitment was that maltreatment would never been overlooked.
Schily said that the meeting was very beneficial and satisfactory.
Stating that he explained German government's determination on extradition of Kaplan in the meeting, Schily said that they appealed against the verdict of the Cologne Administrative Court which prevented the extradition of Kaplan.
Schily said that they would set a date regarding extradition of Kaplan after appeal verdict.
Stating that they were expecting some guaranties from the Turkish side, Schily quoted Aksu as saying that he would extend support on additional guaranties.
Schily added that Aksu expressed determination on acting more fastidiously on preventing torture.
Metin Kaplan, son of Cemalettin Kaplan, known as ''Black voice'' in Turkey, had been sentenced to four years in prison on charges of inciting killing of his rival Ibrahim Sofu.
