LEFKOSA - Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) President Rauf Denktas said on Tuesday that Turkish Cypriot people would take decision in elections with their free will.
Judiciary Year started in TRNC with a ceremony. TRNC Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu, Constitutional Court Chairman Mustafa Bumin and Supreme Court of Appeals Chairman Erarslan Ozkaya attended the ceremony.
Stating that they wanted an EU membership and a solution depending on the supremacy of justice and law, Denktas said that they would not give up state, equality and Turkey's rights on Cyprus. He added that it was not possible for them to accept Annan's plan which ignored all those things.
Stressing that Turkish Cypriot people who experienced 1963 and 1974 would protect their state, Denktas said that Turkish Cypriot people were struggling by backing their rights and trusting in Turkey. He reiterated that they would not accept Annan's plan.
Denktas said that TRNC would hold its elections freely and stated that they would recognize the formation which would come out from the elections as their state and government.
Stating that TRNC would continue to walk on its path with Turkey, he said it was a path of peace. Denktas said that it was a peace depending on equality and sovereignty of Turkish Cypriot people and covering de facto and effective guaranty of Turkey.
Denktas said that their mission was to back the state and remove injustice by carrying out their national policy together with Turkey and added that they would also support Turkey's accession to the EU as they were struggling for law and equality.
