SOFIA - Turkish Environment & Forestry Minister Osman Pepe met Bulgarian Environment & Waters Minister Djevdet Chakurov in Sofia on Friday.
The meeting focused on prevention of overflows of the Meric (Evros) River triggered by torrential rains, and measures to be taken against pollution in the Black Sea.
During the meeting, Pepe and Chakurov agreed that Turkey and Bulgaria should further develop their cooperation to prevent floods on the Meric River which cause serious damage in both countries.
Meanwhile, Turkish, Bulgarian and Romanian environment ministers will meet in Istanbul in October to discuss how to prevent increasing pollution in the Black Sea.
Pepe is expected to return to Turkey later today.
