ANKARA - Turkish Energy & Natural Resources Minister Hilmi Guler met on Thursday International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director-General Mohamed El Baradei, who is currently visiting Ankara.
After the meeting, Guler said that they would conduct joint studies on nuclear energy with IAEA.
Recalling that Turkish Atomic Energy Agency (TAEK) was established in 1956, Guler said that Turkey was a ``founder member`` of IAEA which was established in 1957.
Guler quoted El Baradei as saying in the meeting that he was pleased with Turkey`s studies on nuclear energy.
On the other hand, El Baradei stated that Turkey needed energy, noting that nuclear energy was ``a clean energy source``.
El Baradei stressed that IAEA would extend great support to Turkey in this area.
