TRABZON - Polish Embassy in Ankara Trade Attache Jaroslaw Baranczak said on Monday that accession of Turkey and Poland to the EU would bring economic relations to the highest level.
Baranczak had a meeting with Trabzon Chamber of Trade (TTSO) executive board chairman Sadan Eren and Turkish entrepreneurs and said that trade volume between the two countries was increasing every year.
Stating that but trade volume between the two countries was insufficient, Baranczak said that they would do their utmost to increase trade volume over 1 billion U.S. dollars.
Baranczak said that he hoped that Turkey would take the important step by sitting at the full membership negotiation table in 2005.
Baranczak said that some Polish products were going to Turkey via Germany and some Turkish products were also going to Poland via Germany.
He added that but they wanted those relations to be carried out directly and stated that bilateral meetings were the only way for Turkey and Poland to know each other better.
Stating that visa was the biggest difficulty in transportation from Turkey to Poland, Baranczak said that he believed that it would be solved in the following years.
Eren said that there was almost not trade between Turkey and Poland and stated that they especially wanted relations between Poland and Black Sea region to be further improved.
Stating that Polish businessmen should visit Trabzon, Eren said that Trabzon province was near Iran, Ukraine, Georgia and Azerbaijan and added that Polish businessmen could choose Trabzon for making business with countries in this region.
