TBILISI - Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah conveyed President Ahmet Necdet Sezer's invitation to Georgian President Eduard Shevardnadze, diplomatic sources said on Monday.
Shevardnadze said that they attributed great importance to relations between Turkey and Georgia and stated that there was strategic cooperation between the two countries as he received Gul.
Shevardnadze thanked Turkey for a Georgian diplomat's being elected as Secretary General of Black Sea Economic Cooperation. The sides also decided to hold Joint Economic Commission (JEC) meeting within three months during Gul's visit in Tbilisi.
Gul brought onto the agenda problems occurring when Turkish lorries were passing to Georgia and asked for a solution to these problems as soon as possible, sources said.
Both sides underlined the importance of Turkish Airlines' resuming its flights to Georgia on September 17.
