BEIJING - State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Ali Sahin met on Monday with Chinese Prime Minister Jiabao Wen.
Speaking at the meeting, Sahin said Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan invited Wen to Turkey.
Wen said Turkish-Chinese friendship was rooted in history, stating that he would visit Turkey soon. Wen said they considered Turkey in economic sense as a gate to opening to the West, and noted that improvement of relations with Turkey, particularly economic relations, was important in foreign policy of China.
Sahin in his part said Turkey has a policy to open to Far East, and stated that they encouraged businessmen on this issue.
Both sides expressed willingness to improve relations.
Sahin and an accompanying delegation will proceed to Shanghai on Tuesday and are expected to depart from China on Wednesday.
