ANKARA - Turkey has expressed serious concerns about North Korea`s long and medium-range missile tests despite all warnings of the international community.
Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said on Wednesday, ``after declaring on April 24th, 2003 that it possessed nuclear weapons, North Korea tested missiles by ignoring security of its neighbors. It is evident that those missile tests will not serve good-will efforts to settle peace and stability in the region.``
``North Korea`s long-range missile tests will also have negative impacts on international peace and security. Turkey has been supporting all efforts led by the United Nations for assumption of a determined and joint attitude. We call on the North Korean government to put an end to its missile program immediately, to abide by the moratorium it declared in the past, and to adopt the Hague Code of Conduct against Ballistic Missile Proliferation,`` it said.
``We expect the North Korean government to resume talks, to fulfil its commitments stemming from the joint statement dated September 19th, 2005 and re-open its nuclear program to the international inspection system,`` the MFA added.
