STRASBOURG - Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen of Finland, holding the rotating EU Presidency, has indicated that Turkey`s EU accession would strengthen the union.
Vanhanen held a press conference after delivering a speech at the plenary session of the European Parliament outlining the priorities and main objectives of Finland during its EU Presidency term.
Replying to a question about Turkey, Vanhanen noted that Turkey`s membership would also bring stability to the region.
Noting that if Turkey exerts necessary efforts, it would be a full member of the EU, Vanhanen added that Turkey`s accession would take a long time.
