ANKARA - Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul left for the United States on Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters at Ankara`s Esenboga Airport prior to his departure, Gul said that he will hold meetings with U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, U.S. President George Bush`s National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley, Turkey-U.S. Interparliamentary Friendship Group Co-Chairman Robert Wexler as well as Richard Lugar, Chairman of Committee on Foreign Relations of U.S. Senate.
Gul added that he will also meet representatives of Turkish community in Washington, various think-tank organizations and U.S. press.
Expressing belief that his visit will further develop the cooperation between Turkey and the United States, Gul said that they will take up bilateral relations as well as regional & international matters in their meetings.
Gul said that within the scope of his visit they will present a written document outlining their common vision regarding bilateral and international issues.
I will depart from the United States on July 6th, added Gul.
