SUREYYA AYHAN COMES FIRST
Famous Turkish athlete Sureyya Ayhan was ranked the first in Golden League held in Monaco in 1500 meters. Ayhan beat her opponent Russian athlete Tomashova by finishing the race 60 meters ahead of Tomashova. Meanwhile another Turkish atlethe Elvan Abeylegesse was ranked the first in 5000 meters.

TURKISH AND AMERICAN SOLDIERS FRIENDLY TOWARDS EACH OTHER IN KIRKUK
During the third Turkmen Congress held in Kirkuk Turkish and American officers were very friendly towards each other. American soldiers took tight security measures for the Turkmen Congress. The message sent by Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul to the Congress was applauded for a long time in the Congress. Gul said in his message that Iraq prepared a new future for itself, Turkmens had to be in solidarity, adding that Iraq was important for Turkey and that Turkey was important for Iraq.

ONE OTTOMAN IN POLITICS
Princess Zeynep, the wife of the last prince (shahzadah) of Ottomans will join active politics:it can be in Ankara or in one municipality in Istanbul, she says. Princess Zeynep confirms that she will join politics, adding that she will do it without expecting anything. Princess Zeynep also adds that she is devoted to principles of Ataturk, the founder of modern and secular Turkey.

UZMAN FAMILY WANTED IN TRNC
There are claims saying that Kemal Uzan and his son Hakan Uzan were hiding in TRNC. Ortam newspaper published in TRNC stated that Uzan family were hiding from police in a summer house which belonged to a high ranking official of GSM Company Telsim in TRNC. According to the claims, Uzan family got information that police would raid the house and they left the house immediately. Police could not find anybody in the house.

SCHOOLS TO OPEN ON MONDAY
Holiday for students of primary and secondary schools is over. 2003-2004 education year will start on Monday, September 15. A total of 13 million students will go to primary and secondary schools this year. Nearly 2,200,000 students were registered to schools for 2003-2004 education year. Students will start new education year with new regulation. According to the new regulation, there will not be exams at the 1st, 2nd and 3rd classes of primary schools.

TURKISH TRADEMARKS' NEW FAVORITE: ODESSA
Odessa, a seaport in Ukraine, has become the new favorite city of Turkish trademarks. Many products from textile to food and furniture are sold in Odessa to where 500 ships approach monthly. Turkish ready-to-wear companies organized Turkish Fashion Fair in Odessa for the second time. Nearly 1,500 people visited the fair on the first day of fair.

RESULT EXPECTED BY ANKARA NOT COME OUT FROM TALKS ON AN OPERATION AGAINST KADEK BETWEEN TURKISH AND U.S. DELEGATIONS
The result expected by Ankara did not come out from the talks between Turkish and U.S. delegations regarding the eradication of PKK/KADEK terrorist organization from the north of Iraq. The U.S. government told Ankara that results of the Reassociation Law should be awaited and said that ''an operation which is launched today against terrorist organization will spoil military plans in Iraq.''

CICEK SAYS TRANSFER OF OCALAN TO F-TYPE PRISON IS NOT ON AGENDA OF JUSTICE MINISTRY
Justice Minister Cemil Cicek said regarding some statements which claimed that Abdullah Ocalan, the head of terrorist organization, could be transferred from Imrali to Sincan F type prison that Justice Ministry did not have such a transfer on its agenda. Cicek who participated in the unofficial meeting of EU justice and interior ministers in Rome assessed the statement of Parliamentary Human Rights Commission's Deputy Chairman Cavit Torun who said that Ocalan could be transferred to Sincan F Type prison. ''Justice Ministry does not have such an issue on its agenda. There are other issues which Turkey will deal with. People should focus on more important and beneficial issues for Turkey,'' Cicek said.

AYHAN RANKED THE FIRST IN FIRST WORLD ATHLETICS FINAL IN MONACO
National athlete Sureyya Ayhan on Saturday was ranked the first in the First Athletics Final organized by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) in 1500 meters Women's Event in Monaco. A total of 12 athletes joined the race. Ayhan recorded three minutes 57.73 seconds. Elvan Abeylegesse was also ranked the first in women's 5,000 meters in the First Athletics Final in Monaco.

TURKMENS SAY PEACE
Turkmen Congress which is held in Kirkuk city of Iraq started on Saturday. Participants of the congress had the same wish which was peace. Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul sent a message to the congress saying that Turkey would continue its support to Iraq in its transition period and it would fulfil its responsibilities. The message was applauded for a long time by those who attended the Congress.

YSK FIGHT
While everybody is waiting for the decision of the Supreme Court of Appeals about the case of People's Democracy Party (DEHAP), there is a fight between AK Party and True Path Party (DYP) about elections. DYP defends the view that Nov. 3 elections had to be cancelled and new elections had to be held. AK Party on the other hand tries to impede the cancellation of the elections.

WE ARE MEDIATOR IN WORLD AGRICULTURE
The difference of opinion between U.S., Europe and the developing countries about ''lifting agricultural subsidies'' was not overcome during the World Trade Organization (WTO) ministers conference and that the contacts came to a deadlock. British, French and Italian ministers asked State Minister Kursad Tuzmen to act as mediator. Developing countries demand subsidies to be lifted, while the U.S. and European countries don't want that.

U.S. TO ACCEPT LEADER TO BE ELECTED BY TURKMEN CONGRESS
An historic Turkmen congress is held in Kirkuk following the end of Baas regime in Iraq. Totally 550 delegates representing 34 Turkmen parties and institutions attended the third congress of Turkmens to chose their leaders. The U.S. administration will also accept the leader of Turkmens.

NEW EDUCATION YEAR STARTS WITH FREE BOOKS
Totally 14 million students and 600,000 teachers will start the new academic year tomorrow. Students who had a three-month holiday, and teachers who had a two-month holiday are all excited. This year primary school books will be given to all students free of charge for the first time. The cost of 76 million books is 150 trillion liras.
