ANKARA - Palestinian Ambassador to Turkey Nabil Marouf said on Friday that they expected more support from Turkey to put an end to recent attacks of Israel on Palestinian territory.
Holding a news conference in Ankara, Marouf said that since Israel's real target was to destroy peace efforts, it did not acknowledge and cooperate with any of elected Palestinian leaders.
''As a result of Israeli attacks, our infrastructure has been destroyed, and Palestinian people have been living under extremely difficult conditions. The international community has a moral responsibility towards Palestinian people. Therefore, we call on everyone not to remain silent any more,'' he said.
Upon a question about the Israeli soldier who was kidnapped in Palestine, Marouf told reporters, ''that soldier was taken hostage during an attack. Neither the Palestinian Authority leader, nor the prime minister ordered the abduction. Palestinians requested release of some prisoners under the age of 18 in return of the release of the Israeli corporal. It is not a big deal.''
