Israeli Ambassador Says Protecting Their People Against Attacks Is Their Most Important Responsibility

ANKARA - Israeli Ambassador in Ankara David Sultan said on Friday that protecting Israeli people against suicide bombers was their most important responsibility.
Sultan, who is expected to return Israel after retiring, visited True Path Party (DYP) leader Mehmet Agar.
Agar said there were friendship relations among Turkey, Israel and Palestine, stating that those relations were strengthened day by day.
Agar said Turkey felt sorry over loss of lives because of the recent incidents, stating that history proved that making peace was more difficult then making war. He said bloodshed should be prevented and peace should be settled.
Agar said Turkey could be more functional to install peace due to its relations with Israel and Palestine, stating that, ''I know that this is a difficulty that needs patience and self-sacrifice. Those should be overcome and everybody should fulfill their duties.''
Sultan in his part stressed that the Middle East was going through a difficult period, stating that Israel on the one side tries to take steps toward peace, and on the other side fights against terrorism.''
Sultan said they were still committed to the ideal that the Palestinian and Israeli people co-exist in peace. ''However,'' he noted this ideal could not come true as long as existence of terrorists who tried to prevent it continued.
Sultan said he wanted to be optimistic and wanted to believe that people of Israel and Palestine did not have any other alternative, but living in peace and cooperation despite all the difficulties.
