ANKARA - Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke with Swedish Prime Minister Goran Persson by phone and expressed his condolences over the death of Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh.
Issuing a written statement, Prime Ministry Press Centre said on Friday that Prime Minister Erdogan told Persson that he was very sorry to hear the death of Lindh in a loathsome attack.
Erdogan noted that the demise of Lindh was a big loss for the Swedish nation. He said he shared the pain of the Swedish Prime Minister and the Swedish nation and he expressed his condolences.
Swedish Prime Minister Persson thanked Erdogan for his support.
Persson said that Lindh was very pleased with her recent visits to Turkey, she attributed great importance to Turkish-Swedish relations and Turkey-EU relations, adding that he would convey Erdogan's message of condolence to Swedish nation and Lindh's family.
