ANKARA - Turkish and American officials started their talks on Friday to discuss elimination of terrorist organization PKK/KADEK from the north of Iraq.
U.S. State Department official Lynn Pascoe heads the U.S. delegation. There are also U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Eric Edelman, U.S. Defense Department (Pentagon) officials and intelligence units in the U.S. delegation.
During the talks, Turkey will voice once again its sensitivity about terrorism and give information about reassociation law process and its outcomes. The two sides will exchange views about ways to eliminate PKK/KADEK terrorist organization within the scope of ensuring security in the region.
The Turkish side will ask the U.S., as the authority in Iraq, to be more effective against the terrorist organization which is also in the U.S. list of terrorist organizations. During the talks, the two sides will ''reconfirm confidence'' about the issue. Ankara can bring proposals about fight with the terrorist organization during the talks.
The U.S. delegation headed by Pascoe will leave Ankara in the weekend and another delegation can come to Ankara soon to continue talks.
Recently, U.S. State Department said that PKK/KADEK was a terrorist organization, no permission would be given to use of north of Iraq as a terrorist base against Turkey and that the U.S. would try to overcome the concerns of Turkey about the issue.
