KILIS - Kilis Governor Tevfik Basakar said on Friday that a free trade agreement had to be signed with Syria.
Basakar said that commercial relations between the two countries increased every day, adding that ''Turkey's exports to Syria increased by 80 percent this year when compared to last year.''
Referring to the importance of Border Trade Centres Project proposed by Turkey to revive economy in border provinces, Basakar said that ''we expect the project to be put into practice until the end of the year. Technical delegations from the two countries should come together. Lifting obstacles in trade will both contribute to development of bilateral trade and also of regional trade.''
