ANKARA - Finance Minister Kemal Unakitan said on Tuesday that one of their targets was to erase six zeros from Turkish lira (TL) and stated that technical studies on this issue started.
Unakitan told reporters that share of tax incomes in total incomes increased to 83.7 percent in 2003 and it was 74.8 percent in 2002.
Stating that one of the most important targets of the government and Finance Ministry was to increase sound tax incomes, Unakitan said that interest rates were decreasing, but it was not enough. He added that those rates should decrease more.
Unakitan said that they did not think of imposing new taxes and noted that they thought of taking unregistered economy under registration.
Unakitan said that they would take more effective decisions on taxes and added that they were restructuring tax administration.
