MEXICO CITY - A Mexican judge Friday ordered the house arrest of former president Luis Echeverria on charges of genocide for the killing of students during a 1968 demonstration, his lawyer said.
"The judge ordered the arrest of Don Luis on the charge of genocide ... and ordered his house arrest," Juan Velazquez told AFP.
The detention order was issued just two days before Mexicans cast their ballots in presidential and legislative elections.
