ISTANBUL - Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer left for Russia at invitation of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin on Wednesday.
Sezer is scheduled to meet Putin on Thursday after visiting the Unknown Soldier Monument. Besides regional and international developments, Sezer and Putin are expected to discuss several energy projects. The two presidents are expected to hold a joint news conference after their meeting.
Following the news conference at the Kremlin Palace, President Sezer will receive Boris Grizlov, chairman of the State Duma, the lower chamber of the Russian parliament.
On Friday, President Sezer will proceed to St. Petersburg, the second biggest city of Russia.
He will visit the worldwide famous State Hermitage Museum, and partake in a luncheon to be hosted in his honor by St. Petersburg Governor Valentina Matviyenko.
President Sezer is expected to return to Turkey the same day after visiting the Peterhof Palace.
