AACHEN - State Minister Mehmet Aydin said on Sunday that there were many things that religions could do to prevent wars.
Speaking in a symposium on ''war-peace: unity of cultures and beliefs'' held in Germany, Aydin said that religions were misused for war and added, ''in fact, peace is the basis of every religion.''
Aydin noted, ''religions undertake important duties in international fight against terrorism. Churches and mosques have launched concerted efforts, but these are not sufficient.''
State Minister Aydin will proceed from Cologne to Berlin and then to Mongolia on Tuesday. Aydin will attend an international conference on new and newly-structured democracies there.
