YALCINBAYIR: ''AKP REGULATION SHOULD BE REVISED''
An interesting discussion started after Prime Minister and Justice and Development Party (AKP) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced a goal (of his party) for the 100th anniversary of the Republic. AKP Bursa deputy Ertugrul Yalcinbayir said that the party's regulation should be revised, noting that basic principles of the Republic should be included in the regulation more clearly. On the other hand, Konya deputy Ahmet Isik said, ''all of us shall visit the Anitkabir on November 10th.''
SECOND INCREASE IN INTEREST RATES
Turkey's central bank raised key interest rates by 2.25 points in line with expectations. The monetary policy committee increased the overnight borrowing interest rate from 15 to 17.25 percent and the lending interest rate from 18 to 20.25 percent. We will see how markets will respond to this development today.

A discussion regarding the Republic took place in the meeting of Justice and Development Party (AKP) in southern city of Antalya. AKP deputy Ertugrul Yalcinbayir said that the peculiarities of the Republic should also be included in the party program. FOUR DIE IN EXPLOSION IN MANAVGAT
Three foreign tourists and one Turk died, and 28 people were injured in the explosion that occurred in Manavgat town of southern city of Antalya. Manavgat subgovernor Fikret Dayioglu said that the explosion might have been caused by a gas canister.

NO EARLY ELECTION, ERDOGAN
Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan has reiterated that there would not be an early election in his speech at Justice and Development Party's (AKP) meeting in southern city of Antalya. In regard to presidential election, Erdogan said, ''we will discuss what our party will do on this matter. We will also debate the matter with non-governmental organizations.''
MESSAGE TO IRAN
Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul paid a visit to Iran ahead of G8 summit to be held in Moscow on June 29th. Gul met Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and told him that Iran should return to negotiation table.

Turkish Central Bank made urgent and important decisions yesterday to prevent sharp increase in U.S. dollar against Turkish lira. Monetary Policy Committee raised short term interest rates by 2.25 points after it discussed recent developments in money markets in a meeting.
TURKISH PEOPLE NOT WANT FORMER POLITICIANS TO RETURN TO POLITICS
Turkish people showed great interest in a public survey conducted by Vatan. 14 percent of people who participated in the survey said that former politicians should return to politics, while 86 percent did not want to see them in the politics.

Turkish Central Bank Monetary Policy Committee held its second extraordinary meeting within one month and took a backward step. The committee earlier decided to keep interest rates steady, but it decided to raise short term interest rates by 2.25 points in its meeting held yesterday.
MESUT YILMAZ BLAMES GOVERNMENT
Former Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz underlined the importance of protection of secularism, noting that there were traps against Turkey. Yilmaz said that Semdinli indictment was a political conspiracy which also included the government.

INTERVENTION IN FLUCTUATIONS
Turkish Central Bank Monetary Policy Committee raised interest rates by 2.25 points on Sunday. Releasing a statement after its second extraordinary meeting within 18 days, the committee said the bank would start lira purchase auctions to halt the currency's slide. The committee stated that it would not allow market volatility to harm inflation's medium-term downtrend. ''In order to correct medium-term inflation expectations the monetary policy committee decided to evaluate its key interest rates and carry out another strong monetary tightening,'' the committee noted.
THE OBSERVER: ''GROWTH WILL SLOW DOWN IN TURKEY''
The Observer said that Turkish market was one of emerging markets which was affected most by external developments. The newspaper stated that growth would slow down in Turkey.

GUL: ''WORLD BENEFIT FROM DIPLOMATIC SOLUTION''
Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul, who paid a visit to Iranian capital of Tehran, indicated that Iran, Turkey, the region and the world would benefit from a diplomatic solution of problem regarding Iran's nuclear program. Gul had a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Motaki. ''We, as Turkey, are exerting great efforts for a diplomatic solution. We believe that Iran, Turkey, the region and the world will benefit from a diplomatic solution. Then, a new era will begin, tensions will decrease and a new cooperation opportunity will appear. That's why, everyone should fulfill his/her tasks for a diplomatic solution,'' he stressed.

One village guard was killed in a clash between terrorists and security forces in rural area in Palu town of eastern city of Elazig.

GAS CANISTER EXPLODES IN MANAVGAT KILLING FOUR
An explosion in Manavgat (Turkish Mediterranean resort town) of Antalya killed four people on Sunday, and injured about 25 other people. Manavgat local official Fikret Dayioglu said that the blast was caused by a gas canister.
GUL: ''EVERYONE SHOULD ACT WITH RESPONSIBILITY''
Turkish FM Abdullah Gul who paid a visit to Iran yesterday said that the problem (regarding Iran's nuclear program) should be solved through diplomatic means. Gul underlined that a diplomatic solution would yield economic development in the region.

A total of 5,588 foreign capital companies began serving in Turkey between 1954 and 2002, on the other hand 7,140 foreign capital establishments entered Turkey during the period between 2003 and April 2006. According to the data of Turkish Treasury Undersecretariat, a total of 12,728 foreign companies are operating in Turkey currently. The data shows that 2,236 German, 1,053 British, 998 Dutch, 497 French and 454 Italian companies serve in the country.
