ANKARA - Turkey's imports from China amounted to 6.8 billion U.S. dollars, however its exports to China remained at 549.7 million U.S. dollars in 2005.
Between January and April 2006, Turkey's imports from China became 2.8 billion U.S. dollars and exports to this country amounted to 170.3 million U.S. dollars.
Turkey especially imported data processing equipment, radios, telephones, visual transmitters and leather from China.
Speaking to the A.A correspondent, Foreign Economic Relations Board (DEIK) Turkish-Chinese Business Council Chairman Yavuz Onay said that economic relations between Turkey and China should be improved further.
''If we don't import goods from China, then we cannot export goods to China because we import raw materials needed for exports,'' Onay underlined.
Noting that there were 150 Turkish companies operating in China, Onay indicated that most of these companies used China as a production center.
