ANKARA - State Minister Ali Babacan and accompanying delegation will explain latest developments in Turkish economy to U.S. financial circles in meetings to be held in the United States between September 8 and 12.
A statement of the State Ministry said on Saturday that promotion meetings would start in Chicago on September 8.
The statement noted that the meetings would continue in Boston, New York, Des Moines, Los Angeles and San Francisco.
The delegation headed by Babacan will meet with leading U.S. and world investors, representatives of investment funds and rating organizations.
Presentations will be made during the meetings on economic program in practice, latest economic developments in Turkey, arrangements to rehabilitate environment of investments, reforms made in European Union (EU) adjustment process.
The delegation will be in Chicago on September 8, in Boston and Des Moines on September 9, in New York on September 10 and 11, and Los Angeles and San Francisco on September 12. Almost 30 meetings will be held in these days.
Releasing a statement on his schedule in the United States, State Minister Ali Babacan said that his contacts in the United States were important for increase of demand for Turkish debenture bonds in the U.S. market.
Babacan said, ''our delegation comprised of high-level officials of the Treasury Undersecretariat, Central Bank and State Planning Organization (DPT) will hold a series of promotion meetings between September 8 and 12 to explain latest developments in economy and to exchange views with international investments on Turkey. Leading investors of the world and the United States, representatives of ratings organizations and investment funds will attend the meetings. It will be possible to give information about latest developments in Turkey in these meetings which will take place in several cities of the United States.''
Positive economic developments, revival process, atmosphere of confidence and stability that had been formed, many reforms made in EU adjustment process, arrangements to rehabilitate environment of investments, and many economic and political issues would come onto agenda during those meetings, Babacan pointed out.
Babacan emphasized that the participants would also be informed about the course of the economic program in practice.
The mentioned contacts were important for attracting U.S. businessmen and their investments in Turkey, Babacan pointed out.
Babacan said, ''our contacts and meetings in the United States will not only be limited with the United States but also give the opportunity to promote Turkey to a large group of people since we will meet with people and organizations who have international business deals.''
''Our economy has entered into a permanent, stable and stronger restructuring process. Positive developments recorded in macro economic figures will be further improved by attracting international investors and increasing foreign investments in Turkey thanks to such promotion meetings,'' Babacan added.
