ISTANBUL - Japanese Upper House Vice President Shoji Motooka, his wife and some other Japanese parliamentarians arrived in Turkey on Friday as the guest Parliament Speaker Bulent Arinc.
Speaking at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport, Motooka said the target of their visit was to strengthen relations between Japanese Upper House and the Parliament.
Motooka said further improvement of relations would also contribute to world peace, adding they wanted to exchange views with Turkish parliamentarians and government officials on reconstruction of Iraq and humanitarian aid to this country.
Motooka said Japan wanted to learn views and proposals of Turkey on dispatch of soldiers to Iraq.
Motooka said they also wanted to discuss ways of cooperation between Turkey and Japan on international policy, and that they also wanted to exchange views to further improve economic relations between the two countries.
Motooka said his visit would contribute to improvement of relations between the two countries.
