Black Sea Partnership 2003 Maneuver To Be Exercised

ANKARA - Black Sea Partnership 2003, a concerted maneuver of the Naval Forces Command, will be exercised in western Black Sea between September 8-and 15.
A statement of Naval Forces Command said on Friday that the maneuver aimed to improve training and cooperation among Black Sea littoral states and support activities of the Partnership for Peace (PfP).
The statement noted that a frigate, a corvette, three attack boats, one submarine and one helicopter of the Turkish Naval Forces and planes of Turkish Armed Forces would take part in the exercise.
One vessel each from Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania and Ukraine would also participate in the maneuver, the statement pointed out.
The statement said that search and rescue operations in the sea, sea training as well as port training would be put into test during the maneuver.
Ships would visit Istanbul port between September 8 and 10 and Eregli port in the Black Sea between September 13 and 14, the statement noted.
Pointing out that observers from Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Russian Federation and Ukraine had been invited to watch the maneuvers, the statement added that the exercise would end as the ships left Eregli port on September 15.
