LEFKOSA - President Mehmet Ali Talat of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) has indicated that he accepted proposals to hold talks with Greek Cypriot leader Tassos Papadopoulos on July 3rd and 8th, stating that however he did not know what Papadopoulos said regarding the meeting to be held on July 8th.
Talat told reporters that he would have a meeting with Papadopoulos upon appointment of Christophe Girod as the third member of the Committee on Missing Persons in Cyprus on July 3rd.
Stating that he accepted the offer of UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Ibrahim Gambari who wanted to bring together the two parties in the island on July 8th during his visit to Cyprus, Talat added that but he did not know the response of Greek Cypriot administration to this offer.
