RELIGIOUS AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT GIVES FETWA
Religious Affairs Department gave fetwa to support the demands of hospitals to overcome cadaver difficulty. Head of Religious Affairs Department Ali Bardakoglu said, ''working on the cadaver and donating cadaver to hospitals is religiously permissible.''
Criticizing those who gave fetwa to prevent organ donation, Bardakoglu said, ''making organ donation and saving the life of a person is one of the most important worships.''

REFORM IS OBLIGATORY IN ISLAM WORLD
Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul has indicated, ''we accept that reform is a necessity, not a choice any longer. It is time to take actual steps to advance on reforms.''
Delivering a speech in the opening session of the 33rd meeting of foreign ministers of Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) in Baku, Gul said that the Middle East suffered from regional conflicts, political problems and radical religious violence for years. ''That's why countries should work jointly to assure peace and security. Turkey strongly supports a secure, stable, democratic and nuclear-free Middle East,'' Gul underlined. Stating that Turkey was exerting utmost efforts for current tension not to be turned into a regional and global tension, Gul said, ''we consider that the problem should be resolved through diplomatic way.''

DECISION IN SEMDINLI:39 YEARS
Van High Criminal court sentenced two non-commissioned officers to 39 years 5 months and 10 days of imprisonment over the incidents happened in Semdinli town of southeastern city of Hakkari.
The court convicted officers Ali Kaya and Ozcan Ildeniz on charges of homicide, forming an armed gang and attempted murder.
On November 9th, 2005, a hand grenade was hurled into a bookstore, that belongs to Seferi Yilmaz, in Semdinli, killing a person. The Semdinli attack set off days of rioting that left four dead.

RECORD PENALTY IN SEMDINLI CASE
Van 3rd High Criminal Court has inflicted severe punishments on officers Ali Kaya and Ozcan Ildeniz: 39 years imprisonment.
Semdinli Case, which was started after a bombing of a book store in Semdinli, has ended in 1, 5 months. Court has given a jail sentence for both officers; Ali Kaya and Ozcan Ildeniz for 39 years, for ''establishing a criminal organization'', ''manslaughter'', ''attempt against life'' and ''laceration''.

''DON'T MAKE STATEMENTS WHICH AFFECT ECONOMY NEGATIVELY''
It is reported that Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan will say ''Do not make statements which affect economy negatively'' in a meeting with Mustafa Koc and Omer Sabanci who are the leading names in TUSIAD (Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association).
Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan is going to meet TUSIAD Board Chairman Omer Sabanci and Supreme Advisory Council Chairman Mustafa Koc.

39 YEARS IMPRISONMENT TO ''GOOD BOY''
Mehmet Zahir Korkmaz died when a hand grenade was hurled to the Umut Bookshop in Semdinli on November 9th. Following this incident, a case was opened against confessor Veysel Ates (who the citizens stated that threw the bomb) and non-commissioned officers Ali Kaya and Ozcan Ildeniz, who were reported to be in the car which Ates got in.
Van 3rd High Criminal Court has given one year 11 months imprisonment terms against the non-commissioned officers on charges of ''forming gang'', 25 years on charges of ''killing Zahir Korkmaz'', 12 years on charges of ''trying to kill Sefere Yumaz'' and 6 months on charges of ''injuring Metin Korkmaz''.
Case against Veysel Ates will be heard separately.

MESSAGE FOR ALLIANCE IN THE LEFT
Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal said, ''Democratic Left Party (DSP) is a serious and respected party. Their members are patriotic. We will be pleased over cooperation with them.''
DSP leader Zeki Sezer said, ''cooperation without CHP will be incomplete. We should see who are ready. Nobody should be isolated. I don't want to disclose only one formula because of this.''
Zeki Sezer is expected to make a call within a few days about cooperation.

EIGHT YEARS IS NOT ENOUGH
TUSIAD (Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association) Chairman Omer Sabanci called on 7-article reform in education.
Releasing a report, Sabanci said education before primary school should be obligatory for 6-year old children and proposed compulsory education to be increased from 8 years to 12 years.
Other proposals: There should be broad-based vocational education. There should be competition among universities. Life-time education strategy is obligatory. Resource is necessary for the training of tutors.

''WE DON'T WANT A NEW CRISIS''
Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul started Iran diplomacy with OIC summit in Baku. Gul, who met Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Motaki, said Turkey supported peaceful nuclear works, yet noted that Tehran should overcome concerns of the world.
Stating that Turkey does not want another crisis in the region after Iraq, Gul said, ''accept UN's incentive plan prior to G-8 summit for the region and for the world peace.

SABANCI-KOC IN ANKARA
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan responded affirmatively to the request of Turkish Industrialists' and Businessmen's Association (TUSIAD) Chairman Omer Sabanci and Koc Holding Executive Board President Mustafa Koc for a meeting.
The summit was reported to take place in Ankara today.

FROM GUL TO IRAN
As the nuclear crisis which Iranian administration have with the international communities goes to a critical stage, Turkey intensified its efforts for a peaceful solution.
Tehran is expected to give its reply to the ''incentive package'' (submitted to put an end to tension) before the G-8 summit on June 29th.
Gul met his Iranian counterpart Manuchehr Motaki during the OIC meeting held in Azerbaijan.
Turkish FM Gul wanted Motaki to asses the opportunity for a peaceful solution.

INSPECTORS ALSO SAY ''FAKE''
Inspectors of the ministry, following an inspection, said the piece of writing ''Inde Deus Abest-Place where God does not exist'' (which was on the doors of dungeons of the Bodrum Underwater Archeology Museum,) was written by a technician 13 years ago.
Oguz Alpozen, former director of the Bodrum museum claimed the piece of writing was 500-year old.
The experts will submit their report to Culture & Tourism Minister Atilla Koc.
