GUL TO RELAY THE MESSAGE U.S. EXPECTED IN BAKU
Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul will relay an extremely important message to Iran during the OIC meeting which will start in Azerbaijani capital Baku today.
Gul is expected to say, ``the package which was prepared by UN Security Council permanent members and Germany in the meeting in Vienna is the last chance. Everybody is ready to enter negotiation atmosphere. There is G-8 meeting in Moscow (the rotating president of G-8) on June 29th. You should conclude works and make a decision about the package before this meeting. As a neighbor of Iran, we have many times stated that Turkey favors a diplomatic solution. Turkey`s efforts will continue.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice had spoke to Gul by phone and said a decision was made to submit a package to Iran during the meeting in Vienna. Upon this, Gul phoned Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki and relayed the message that they should not give harsh reaction and assess the package seriously.

GIANT OPERATION FOR MARMARAY IN THE STRAIT
Some important changes were made in the Marmaray Project (railway tunnel under the Istanbul Strait) because of the strong current of the Strait. Japanese Taisei company, which will construct the railway tunnel, said upper current of the strait was flowing 7.5 km momentum and underwater current was flowing with 3.7 km momentum. The company said that this speed will prevent the works of divers who will work in fitting of the tube tunnels.
The companies decided not to use divers by taking into consideration the currents in the Strait.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THEY DON`T SIGN?
According to the Ankara lobby: Some ministers will block the way for Yasar Buyukanit to become the Chief of the General Staff.
Some influential names in the capital city claim that ``in spite of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, not all ministers in the cabinet will sign the decree on Yasar Buyukanit`s candidacy for the Chief of the General Staff position``.

PEACE WITH TUSIAD
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will meet Turkish Industrialists & Businessmen Association (TUSIAD) Chairman Omer Sabanci and High Consultation Council Chairman Koc on Tuesday.
Sabanci and Koc criticized the government over secularism and reforms.
Ice between the government and TUSIAD is expected to melt during the meeting in which economic and political developments will be assessed.

NEW SOLUTION PROPOSAL FROM ATHENS
Greek Foreign Minister Theodora Bakoyianni said they were getting prepared for a new solution proposal on Cyprus issue. In an exclusive interview with Elefterotipia newspaper, published in Athens, Bakoyianni mentioned the new solution proposal which she named as ``European United Cyprus plan``

``VERY DIFFICULT WITH TURKEY``
Pressure increases on Turkey to open its ports and airports to Greek Cypriots till the end of 2006. Wolfgang Schuessel, the Chancellor of Austria, rotating president of the European Union (EU), said Turkey should fulfill its commitments. ``Negotiations with Turkey are very difficult,`` Schuessel said, adding that, ``I believe that privileged partnership status can be an alternative instead of full membership.``
BOMB ATTACK ON FREIGHT TRAIN, NO CASUALTIES
Eight railway cars of a freight train (travelling from Elazig to Mus) were destroyed when a bomb planted by terrorists on tracks between Kale and Kurt stations in eastern city of Mus exploded.
Sources noted that terrorists planted a bomb on train tracks last night, and 12 railway cars derailed, and 8 of them were utterly destroyed when the bomb exploded.
Also a line of 20 kilometers was damaged.

EU IS DIFFICULT WITH THIS ``STRUCTURE``
Turkey`s Secretariat-General for EU Affairs, established in the year 2000, which is trying to ensure coordination among the institution in the adjustment process with the EU, waits for the new organization law to be enacted for six years. There are only 60 experts in the secretariat where 300 people should work.

IT WILL BE THE EU THAT WILL LOSE
State Minister & Chief Negotiator Ali Babacan said statement of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan that, ``If the (EU) negotiations halt, then let them halt,`` was the definite stance of Turkey. He said, ``making Cyprus issue of bargaining contradicts the fundamental principles of the EU. ``
Babacan said, ``Cyprus issue has nothing to do with the negotiations,`` noting that, ``they should not expect a new step from Turkey.``
TURKISH-FRENCH FRIENDSHIP UNDER WATER
State Minister Kursad Tuzmen and French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade Christine Lagarde dived to the wreckage of ``Paris`` a French warship which sank in 1917. The French Minister, after the diving which lasted for nearly an hour, said, ``Turkey is a wonderful country``.

DETERMINATION CONTINUES IN PRIVATIZATION
Turkey successfully fulfilled the sale of public institutions, which seemed hard to privatize in 2005.
A very important foreign capital inflow was realized particularly in banking sector. However, the business world criticized that economy agenda diminished for sometime, noting that efforts should again focus on privatization initiatives.
OIC TO CONVENE IN A TURKISH REPUBLIC FOR THE FIRST TIME
33rd meeting of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) will start in Azerbaijani capital Baku today.
The meeting, in which regional problems and 10-year re-structuring efforts of the organization will be assessed, will for the first time convene in a Turkish Republic.

HE WRITES HISTORY ACCORDING TO HIS IDEAS
The incidents that occurred in Bodrum museum revealed that former Oguz Alpozen, the former director of the museum (who was accused of changing the historical works of art and making fraudulent alterations) wrote history according to his own ideas.
The piece of writing ``Inde Deus Abest-Place where God does not exist``, which was on the doors of dungeons of the Bodrum Underwater Archeology Museum, proved that Alpozen acted according to himself.
BANKING SECTOR SHOULD NOT BE UNDER CONTROL OF FOREIGNERS
Hakan Ates, the key name of sale of Denizbank to Belgian Dexia, said the banks were the armies of societies in civilian times, and stated that local actors should maintain their presence effectively.
Ates opposes banking system`s to be under the control of foreigners.
