CYPRUS DUEL WITH EU
''Turkey will never take a backward step, not in the ports or in the airports, unless blockade on Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is lifted,'' Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said. Responding to the statement of Erdogan, Austrian Chancellor Wolfgang Schuessel said that this statement could cause problems.
SUPPORT TO BARDAKOGLU
Islam experts expressed their support to initiative of Prof. Dr. Ali Bardakoglu, the head of the Religious Affairs Directorate. Bardakoglu earlier said that some hadiths (which don't have accuracy) including violence against women would be removed from real hadiths of Prophet Muhammad. Prof. Dr. Beyza Bilgin noted, ''I am pleased with this initiative because some hadiths show the Prophet as if he had been against women.''

THY HAS PROBLEMS
After huge numbers of personnel left Turkish Airlines (THY) and started to work in other private airline companies, several problems began to occur in THY. The airlines cancelled its some domestic and international flights due to lack of pilots and stewardesses.
KEY NAME OF ATTACK ON COUNCIL OF STATE RELEASED
Ayhan Parlak (36), who was accused of being a key suspect in the Council of State shooting and who has been in prison for 13 days was released pending trial. Parlak was claimed to be the missing link between the suspected killer of the Council of State judge and the former military officer Muzaffer Tekin, and for whom an international arrest warrant had been issued, had surrendered to Ankara prosecution office on June 1.

UNDERSTAFFED THY BEGINS TO CANCEL FLIGHTS
Delays and cancellations of Turkish Airlines (THY) flights are driving passengers crazy. Yesterday, five flights were cancelled. Authorities said that THY has been suffering from a deficient number of flight attendants, which resulted in delays and flight cancellations. THY has increased the number of its airplanes to 100 and has added an additional 24 flight destinations around the country. However, due to a lack of sufficient flight attendants to cover the extended capacity, THY has had to delay and cancel numerous flights.
PM ERDOGAN SETS FORTH HIS FINAL OPINION
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has stated, ''Turkey will not open its ports and airports to Greek Cypriot administration, unless the EU removes isolations on Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC). If they suspend negotiations for this reason, then let them be suspended.'' French President Jacques Chirac said, ''this attitude may cause problems.''

TOWARDS A CRISIS WITH EU
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has indicated that Turkey would not open its ports and airports to Greek Cypriot administration, unless isolations on Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) were lifted. ''We will not take a backward step. If it (European Union) suspend negotiations for this reason, then let them be suspended.'' EU leaders responded to the statement of Erdogan. French President Jacques Chirac said that continued defiance by Ankara would jeopardize its hopes of ever entering the EU.

Parlak was arrested on charges of aiding and abetting an organized crime gang. NEW ALLEGATION REGARDING BODRUM MUSEUM
A person, who works in Bodrum Museum, sent anonymous e-mails to relevant offices and blamed former museum director Oguz Alpozen. This person said in e-mails that all works of art in Bodrum Museum are imitation, noting that originals were stolen from the museum. On the other hand, Alpozen said that the originals were in the safe of the museum.
UNESCO PRAISES TURKEY
UNESCO praised scientific development in Turkey. It said, ''Turkey will make its voice be heard in the world. Scientific publications in Turkey increased by 500 percent over the last ten years. It is a great development.''

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, ''Turkey and Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) fulfilled its tasks. We supported UN Secretary General Kofi Annan's plan on Cyprus.'' He stressed, ''Turkey will never take a step backwards, not in the ports or in the airports, unless blockade on Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is lifted.''
CAPACITY UTILIZATION ON RISE
The rate of capacity utilization in the manufacturing sector increased from 81.3 percent in May 2005 to 82.7 percent in May 2006. Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) released figures of tendency survey for May 2006. The first reason for not working in full capacity was the shortage of demands. Shortage of raw materials, financial problems, labor problems and shortage of energy were other reasons for the case.
