ISTANBUL - Turkish Chief Rabbi`s Office on Friday called on Rahsan Ecevit, wife of former Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit, to make public the names of the ``Turkish citizens from Jewish religion who purchased lands in GAP region in the name of Israel.``
The office released a statement on behalf of the Turkish Jewish Community and noted that Rahsan Ecevit, in her statement about the lands (in GAP region) purchased to foreigners, claimed that ``Israelis purchased most of this land through Turkish citizens of Jewish origin.``
The statement called on Rahsan Ecevit to clarify her statement.
``Although the Constitution considered all Turkish citizens equal without making any religious discrimination and did not forbid any of the citizens to purchase lands or property because of their religion, such kind of statements incriminate all Turkish Jews and lead to discrimination and distrust among the citizens,`` the statement said.
