ANKARA - Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul has indicated that the government was monitoring developments regarding Iran`s nuclear program.
Responding to a question with notice regarding Iran`s nuclear program given by Motherland (Anavatan) Party Diyarbakir deputy Muhsin Kocyigit, Gul said that International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General`s reports revealed the fact that Iran kept secret its nuclear program for long years, stating that this situation caused doubts on Iran`s intentions.
Underlining that Iran had the right to have nuclear energy for peaceful objectives within the scope of international agreements, Gul noted, ``however, according to information included in some reports of IAEA, the possibility of Iran`s having nuclear weapon will disturb international community as well as Turkey.``
``We have told Iranian authorities that they should have full cooperation with the Agency and take some additional confidence building measures,`` Gul said.
