GUIDELINE FOR EU FLAG
There is need for a guideline for Turkey which started actual negotiations with the European Union (EU) with opening and closing of the chapter on science and research to use EU flag together with Turkish flag. Turkish Foreign Ministry sources said that the guideline could be prepared by Foreign Ministry and Turkey's Secretariat General for EU Affairs.
HADITHS INCLUDING VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN TO BE REMOVED
Prof. Dr. Ali Bardakoglu, the head of the Religious Affairs Directorate, said that some hadiths (which don't have accuracy) including violence against women would be removed from real hadiths of Prophet Muhammad. Bardakoglu stated that they would prepare a book which would accurately show the place of women in Islam, adding that the book would be published in 2007.

AKP TO DETERMINE ITS CANDIDATE
When asked how much he will focus on ''consensus'' in Presidential elections, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan replied, ''an election is in question. Certainly we will have a candidate. When time has come, my party- Justice & Development Party (AKP)- determines a name and uses its democratic rights. But certainly the issue is not only limited with Parliament. Other relations out of the Parliament are important as well.''
CHP CRITICIZES AKDAG REGARDING ''REPRODUCTION''
Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) members reacted statements of Health Minister Recep Akdag who said, ''we will focus on reproduction health instead of population plan.'' CHP Izmir deputy Canan Aritman reminded the speed of fertility in east and southeast Anatolian cities, and said that Akdag's statements are malicious for Turkey. Akdag's wife gave birth to 6th child last year.

ERDOGAN: ''WE WILL DECIDE CANDIDATE FOR PRESIDENT''
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan put an end to the debates which said that ''the new parliament should elect the president''. Erdogan stated that the new president of Turkey should represent Turkey in best way, should prepare the ground for national unity and cooperation, should have leadership qualities and should not increase the social tension. When it is time for the election, as AK (Justice and Development) Party Group, we will determine the candidate and use our democratic rights.''
EXPLOSION IN TRASH CONTAINER IN EMINONU
An explosion happened in a trash container in Eminonu district of Istanbul yesterday. Four people were wounded slightly in the explosion. Security Department executives said that time bomb caused the blast.

SO WHO KILLED THESE CHILDREN?
Eight years have passed over the explosion in Misir Bazaar (in Eminonu district of Istanbul) which killed 7 people (including 3 children) and injured 120 others. The suspect of the explosion was acquitted. The reason of explosion is still unknown. Pain of two mothers who lost their children in the explosion will not end till the responsible of the incident is found.
HE DESCRIBED HIMSELF FOR PRESIDENCY
Regarding Presidential elections, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that they will determine the candidate when time has come but he described himself for Presidency. Erdogan said, ''the person who will become President should prepare the unity and solidarity ground in the country besides his/her leadership character.''

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, ''when it is time for the (presidential) election, as AKP (Justice and Development) group, we will determine the candidate and use our democratic rights.'' Erdogan noted that the new president should be a person who would prepare the ground for peace, love, unity and friendship.
DEATH OF BABIES
The number of babies who died at Istanbul Goztepe Hospital reached five. Prof. Dr. Recep Ozturk said, ''we think that a bacteria called Pseudomonas Aeuriginosa caused deaths.''

LAWS NOT WORKING
When National Education Minister Huseyin Celik said that businessmen don't obey the laws, the Union of Chambers & Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Chairman Rifat Hisarciklioglu reacted government harshly and said, ''Parliament works like a factory of law, but laws do not work. Please leave your approach like 'I received authority from people; nobody knows better than me'.''
TARGET OF LUXEMBOURG IS TURKEY
Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker of Luxembourg laid on Turkey before EU leaders meeting. Juncker said that if Ankara does not open its ports and airports (to Greek Cypriot vessels and planes) in line with additional protocol this year, Turkey's entry talks with the EU should be frozen.

ERDOGAN: ''NO ELECTION IN TURKEY'S AGENDA''
Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan noted that election was not included in the agenda of Turkey, stating that current debates regarding the presidential election was a disrespect for President Ahmet Necdet Sezer.
SABANCI: ''TURKEY HAS A PROMISING FUTURE''
Omer Sabanci, the chairman of Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen Association (TUSIAD), said that Turkey would have a promising future, noting that the country was advancing with sound steps to fulfill Maastricht criteria. Indicating that if the government maintained the current performance, Turkey would be a full member of the EU, Sabanci stressed, ''fluctuations should be managed well.''

FM GUL DUE TO USA
Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul will pay a visit to the United States in July. During his stay in USA, Gul will meet U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. Gul and Rice will discuss Iran's nuclear program, developments in Iraq, fight against terrorist organization PKK and bilateral relations during the meeting.

THEY CALMED HIM BY TOURING VATICAN
It was revealed that diplomat A.M.D. from Turkish Foreign Ministry (who attempted to meet Pope in Vatican to settle world peace) told people around him that he was assigned by God to settle peace. The diplomat was interned in Rome and he was toured in the special part of Vatican which is open to public. Thus, he calmed down and was convinced to return to Turkey. The diplomat who is under doctor control continues his mission in Foreign Ministry.
PRESIDENT'S WIFE CAN WEAR HEADSCRAF
According to a survey carried out on 2256 people in 26 cities, 79 percent of participants said that wife of President can wear headscarf and it is not against secularism.
