ANKARA - Ankara Chamber of Industry (ASO) Chairman Zafer Caglayan visited on Tuesday the U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Eric Edelman.
Following the meeting, Caglayan told reporters that the latest developments about Iraq were brought onto the agenda in the meeting. He said that they told Edelman that they expected an attitude in favor of territorial integrity of Iraq.
Caglayan said that he told Edelman that the United States' explaining its view, position, target and mission in Iraq in detail would be beneficial.
Stating that they also said in the meeting that economic partnership between Turkey and the United States should be made permanent, he said that Turkish and U.S. soldiers should act together in reconstruction of Iraq.
Caglayan quoted Edelman as saying that the United States exerted every kind of effort to settle peace and stability in Iraq as soon as possible.
Concerning 8.5 billion U.S. dollars loan which the United States would grant to Turkey, Caglayan quoted Edelman as saying that 8.5 billion U.S. dollars did not depend on any condition.
Caglayan said Edelman told them that they wanted to see Turkey beside the United States.
