DENKTAS SHOULD GET SUPPORT OF TURKISH CYPRIOT PEOPLE
Turkey showed reaction towards TRNC President Rauf Denktas who said that he could start fighting by getting the support of the people in Anatolia. Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul stressed that ''Rauf Denktas should first of all get the support of the Turkish Cypriot people.''

ERDOGAN VISITS BERLIN ELECTRONICS FAIR
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who will meet with German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder today, visited Berlin Electronics and Communication Fair yesterday. Turkish companies Vestel, Beko, and Profilo which attended the fair asked Prime Minister Erdogan to support the research-development investments in order not to miss new opportunities.

''BODY LANGUAGE'' LAW
The new draft which foresees elimination of all members of autonomous institutions reminded the word of Prime Minister who referred to ''a team which understands our body language.'' The government decided to take initiative about autonomous institutions like Banking Regulatory and Supervisory Agency (BRSA), Capital Market Board, Supreme Board of Radio and Television (RTUK) and Competition Board to protect those institutions from political influence. If the new draft is adopted, all of the existing members of those institutions will be dismissed. By the new regulation, the government will have the chance to determine new members for those higher institutions.

CIVIL SERVANTS ON HUNGER STRIKE GO TO HOSPITAL
When no result was taken from the collective bargaining talks between the government and trade unions, trade union Kamu-Sen started hunger strike. But situation of four unionists who went on a hunger strike deteriorated because of hot weather.

HUNGER STRIKE OF CIVIL SERVANTS SPREADING IN TURKEY
The number of civil servants who began hunger strike under the leadership of trade union chairmen increases after a compromise could not been reached between the government and trade unions during collective bargaining talks. Administrators of Turkish Public Workers Labour Union (Kamu-Sen) launched hunger strike in Ankara on Sunday. Members of Kamu-Sen also started hunger strike in Bursa, Malatya, Samsun, Erzurum, Erzincan and Sivas provinces on Monday.

HEAT WAVE TO LEAVE TURKEY
Heat wave will start to leave the country as of Tuesday. It will rain across the country as of today. Temperatures will drop about 10-15 degrees Celsius in Turkey on Thursday. Rain which will start in Marmara region on Tuesday will continue to be influential in Marmara and Black Sea regions on Wednesday.

ERDOGAN MEETS WITH DENOMINATIONAL VISION IN BERLIN
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Mehmet Gul, Berlin Regional Leader of Islamic Community-Denominational Vision. The organization is in the list of fundamentalist organizations which was signed between Turkey and Germany. The Denominational Group was also invited to the meeting in which Erdogan will come together with Turkish associations and non-governmental organizations in Turkish House of Turkish Embassy in Berlin.

HUNGER STRIKE OF CIVIL SERVANTS
A total of 5000 civil servants who are members of Turkish Public Workers Labour Union (Kamu-Sen) started hunger strike three days ago to protest the attitude of the government in the collective bargaining talks. Meanwhile, trade unions KESK and Kamu-Sen applied to the Reconciliation Board.

CONDITION OF SOLDIER IS PEACE
Ankara holds meeting with the U.S. military authorities to make definite the issue dispatch of Turkish soldiers to Iraq. NATO The Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) commander General James L. Jones will come to Ankara on Tuesday to have talks with military and civilian officials. Turkey's demands are as follows; Turkish troops which will have mission in reconstruction of Iraq and humanitarian aid should be described as ''peace force''. A safe route should be formed for dispatch of soldiers. Turkish soldiers will have a special mission in the region. Commander of Turkish troops should be a Turkish person.

RIOT IN IZMIR ON WORLD PEACE DAY
There was riot in western Izmir province on World Peace Day on Monday. A group of persons wanted to walk to Cumhuriyet Square and make a press statement. When police didn't permit the group comprising of nearly 2,000 people to enter the square, demonstrators attacked the official and civilian cars with stones and sticks. The police used truncheon and tear gas to end the riot. Demonstrators who escaped from the police broke windows of many shops, banks and bus stations nearby. Police teams also sprayed water from panzers to disperse the demonstrators. Many demonstrators were detained, while some policemen and demonstrators were injured in the incidents.

ERDOGAN: WE WON'T BE ARMY OF OCCUPATION IN IRAQ
Addressing the German Focus magazine, Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that the government didn't yet take a decision about sending soldiers to Iraq. ''We won't go to Iraq for clash, and we won't permit Turkish army to be regarded as an army of occupation in Iraq. We won't send policemen or combatants there. We can send troops which can meet the needs of the Iraqi people,'' Erdogan said.

EDELMAN VISITS NATIONAL DEFENSE MINISTER GONUL
National Defense Minister Vecdi Gonul who received U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Eric Edelman said that Turkey had close cooperation with the U.S. Gonul said that Turkey and the U.S. undertook more than 50 common projects in the field of defense industry. Eric Edelman said in his part that there was a 50-year past between the two countries, adding that they wanted to further improve the relations.

SUREYYA AYHAN'S RANKING SECOND AT WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP GREAT SUCCESS
Sureyya Ayhan who won silver medal in women's 1,500 meters final at the 9th World Athletics Championships returned to Turkey. Sureyya Ayhan was welcomed with joy at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport. Turkey won its first medal in its history of World Athletics Championships with Ayhan's success. Ayhan who held a press conference at the airport, said that athletics were very difficult, especially for women and stated that she would also compete in Olympic Games, World and European championships.
