Denktas: Nothing Can Be Achieved At The Cost Of Giving Up State

LEFKOSA - TRNC President Rauf Denktas said on Monday that nothing could be achieved at the cost of giving up the state.
Speaking about Cyprus issue during a meeting, TRNC President Denktas said that ''one often repents of that which one does in a fit of anger. If people vote for those parties which want to act in line with Annan plan that will remove the state or in line with EU, then the things wanted by Simitis, Papadopoulos and the Greek Cypriot side will be done.''
Denktas said that the policy which would save Turkish Cypriots was to act in line with Turkey, adding that ''we should not resort to acts which will disturb 1960 treaties. We should do our best to support realities, justice and rights...We should know the importance of freedom. We fight not to become the colony of Greek Cypriots, Greeks and not to become the manservant of others. We will continue to search for our rights. But nothing can be achieved if we give up our state.''
